Administrative Professionals Day (also known as Secretaries Day) originated in the United States. It was initially proposed by two senior secretaries in 1952, established by the International Association of Administrative Professionals, and officially designated in 1955 as the Wednesday of the last full week of April as "Secretaries Week." The purpose was to recognize and appreciate the professional abilities of secretaries, raise public awareness of the potential of secretaries in the workplace, and encourage more capable people to join the profession.More selected VIP products -->
As the world gradually began to understand and value this holiday, "Secretaries Week" was renamed "Professional Secretaries Week" in 1981, and then renamed "Administrative Professionals Week" in 2000, extending the celebration from "secretaries" to a broader range of "administrative professionals," including secretaries, assistants, HR personnel, front desk receptionists, and more. Many supervisors and bosses also choose this day to give their capable assistants a gift to express gratitude and recognition for their past work. In Hong Kong, many restaurants offer exclusive discounts for administrative professionals on this day, simply by showing a business card or staff ID. Want to prepare a surprise for your best assistant? GiveGift Boutique (formerly Shang Li Fang) has curated a Secretary's Day gift collection for you, featuring fresh flowers, preserved flowers, scented candles, and imported gourmet treats, with same-day delivery service in Hong Kong.
Celebration and Recognition
Although Secretary's Day is relatively niche compared to other traditional holidays, many bosses can still choose different ways to celebrate, taking this opportunity to give back to hardworking administrative staff, such as time off, gifts, happy hours... or selecting the best administrative professional to encourage and set an example. For example, in Singapore, there is a biennial "Most Professional Secretary" award that recognizes secretaries with high work efficiency, professionalism, and outstanding performance. In the United States in 1992, there was also a rather dramatic incident: the "Equal Employment Opportunity Women's Alliance" celebrated Secretary's Day by selecting the "Worst Boss of the Year" based on statements from hundreds of secretaries. The 1992 "Worst Boss" award winner was the head of a food distribution center. At this company, Miss Deborah Perkins not only had to complete accounting work but also served as a "human alarm clock," going to the apartment next to the office every morning to wake the boss and his wife from bed.

ifting is a "safe and practical" employee benefit. Whether it's beautiful fresh flowers or more "practical" gifts, both can express encouragement and gratitude to administrative staff who have been working hard to maintain efficient company operations, sending them a little surprise.
